About Student Union
Hands-on Discovery, Real-World Impact: That's Our STEAM Advantage
StudentUnion is the non-profit partner for MakerState, and inspire kids ages 4-18 with new science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) passions and skills through hands-on, in-school, after-school, and summer camp courses in coding and video game design, robot engineering, wearable electronic fashions, 3D design and printing, rocket science, moviemaking, and more.
Students earn daily Challenge project badges in STEAM skills as well as Literacy, Math, Social Emotional and Executive Functioning skills, as they build and learn. We build ongoing program capacity by training teachers through programs such as the National Science Foundation Maker Partnership (Award #1742320) and NYC DOE’s “CS4all” (NYC DOE Vendor #0463406362), helping train over 5,000 New York City teachers how to help them infuse coding in their elementary and middle school project-based learning.

Student Union connects college students pursuing STEAM degrees with K-12 students who are discovering early passions, skills, and confidence in STEAM. Our college-level Maker Fellow instructors provide hands-on learning in engineering, coding, robotics, game design, and more. By engaging young learners in experiential STEM education, we foster creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, empowering students to explore and pursue STEM careers.
